It’s birthday season in our household, and to kick things off for the year our little one had a Minnie Mouse 1st birthday party.
Parties were always a big deal when I was a kid; we’d choose a theme and mum would make us a cake (generally from the Aussie Cake Bible – The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book). So, damn it, it was a tradition I was determined to follow when I had children, dodgy baking skills or not.
So far I’ve survived without making it onto any Pinterest fails lists. So. far.
Anyway here’s what I put together for the Minnie Mouse party if you’re in need of some inspiration:

Two tier moist chocolate cake decorated in fondant icing. I hand-made the cake topper using a thin foam for the Minnie Mouse head and textured pink card stock for the bow.

Birthday invitation purchased from Etsy. (NB: I’m not listing the Etsy seller – she had little attention to detail and stuffed up several aspects of the order).
This is my handmade birthday banner (after the Etsy seller like, ooops, totally forgot to make and send me the one I ordered!). Shove this in your craft hole and smoke it, lady.
